In today’s fast-paced world, where you’re basically available to everyone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, mental health has become just as important as physical health. While getting into the gym to stay in shape is a common goal, it’s important to recognize the connection between physical exercise and mental well-being. This week, we’re going to dive into how fitness can positively impact your mental health and offer some tips on how you can integrate this approach into your routine.

The Science Behind It

Exercise has been proven to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. When you engage in physical activity, your brain releases endorphins, often referred to as “feel-good” hormones. These endorphins interact with receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and trigger a positive feeling in the body.   1. Start Small: If you’re new to Elevate, start with manageable goals. Getting to the gym twice a week? Great! Three times? Awesome! Not able to get to the gym one day? No problem! Even a walk can help boost your mood.
  2. Consistency Over Intensity: Consistency is key. Aim for moderate, regular exercise rather than sporadic intense workouts. Consistent activity is more beneficial for maintaining mental health.
  3. Find What You Enjoy: Exercising shouldn’t be a chore. Find activities you genuinely enjoy, both inside and outside of the gym, and stick with them. When you enjoy the activity, you’re more likely to stick with it.
  4. Mind-Body Exercises: Incorporate mind-body exercises like yoga. These practices focus on breath control, meditation, and gentle movement, which can reduce stress and improve mental clarity. HOLD / FREEZE POLICY

You may request for a hold to be placed on your membership for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 90 days ONCE during the agreement term. The fee for this hold is $20 per month of freeze, which will be debited from the payment method on file. In order to place a hold, you must submit a request via this online Hold Form. When the requested hold period expires, your account will return to its original billing frequency. If you wish to cancel this membership agreement during or after the hold period ends, the 30 day cancellation notice is still in effect.

CANCELLATION POLICY

You may cancel this agreement at any time prior to midnight of the third business day following the execution of this agreement, excluding Sundays and Holidays. If you choose to cancel your membership agreement a 30-Day Notification to CANCEL Membership must be submitted either writing and delivered using the post office OR using this online cancellation form. Any questions or concerns can be sent to info@elevatestpete.fit. Elevate St. Pete is located at 1150 94th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702. There is no additional penalty fee to cancel, but your original membership rate is subject to change if you cancel and return at a later date.
